Summer Is Over!

Since the kids went back to school in the middle of August I feel like summer is officially over 🙁 But the thermometer says something else. It was 94 degrees here in southern California today, so I think mother nature is not done with summer.

I made a few batches of soap this summer but with the kids home and all the driving around I could only manage a few batches. This is a coffee soap made with real strong brewed coffee and coffee grinds for light exfoliation.

I also made a batch of all natural soap colored with annatto seed powder and indigo powder, and scented with grapefruit essential oil.

I also tried making a batch of cupcakes.  I was trying a new fragrance which unfortunately made the soap thicken up too fast. I had a hard time pouring the soap in the molds, and once I un-molded them I saw the damage 🙁 Bubbles and little cavities everywhere! Needless to say they looked terrible and I didn’t even bother frosting the tops.

So now that the girls are back in school maybe I’ll have more time to make soap. Except now there’s homework and activities to drive to!
